I just wanted to update everyone on what was posted about FORM Athletics loosing K-Swiss the money they claimed… Although some numbers are correct, K-Swiss blaming FORM for their losses is no fault of anyone at FORM Athletics (Past, present or future). If you take a look at what K-Swiss has done in the past 6 [...]

I thought it was only appropriate to write an article about something that I have inadvertently been fielding questions about since I mentioned it late last week. For those who remember, (and for those who are joining late) back when my company Derailed Industries was in its infancy I had a small company with a [...]

I’ve never been one to pull any punches (pun intended…) but I think that most people agree with my opinionated views on this side of the industry. We all know by now that I am more interested in the business side of the MMA Market and more importantly the apparel and gear.

I hope Jon Jones doesn’t read my blog…
I figured I was safe posting one of my bi-weekly articles for MMASUCKA.com as I doubt Jon Jones reads my blog…

I am going to make this a short article as I am writing this in advance of being on a nice warm beach by the time you read this… The magic of the interweb!
I always wanted to keep this series of articles general and not make it about specific brands or promote any one in particular. However, when you have a rare situation like I experienced this week it needs to be noted when a new company and it’s ownership group seem to have their finger on the pulse of what it takes to be successful in this business.

You will have to excuse me for the lack of submissions to my regular article, but I was a little tied up for a few weeks. More specifically last weekend when it was my wedding. So this is my first article as a married man. I promise I will be back on schedule now, aside from the week of my well needed honeymoon.

For those who know me, you will know that part of my everyday work involves representing one of the longest running MMA Brands in existence – Punishment Athletics . With it’s recent resurgence I thought that it would make a great story to talk about Brands started by athletes, their differences and why it works for some but not others.

I promised controversy with my articles, but this one will waver on the side of surprising rather than controversial. For those of you who know my business and what I do for a living you may be surprised by my view on this topic. Don’t think that this is me supporting the Zuffa Sponsorship Fees, simply taking a business standpoint of the new costs involved in sponsorships in the UFC and now Strikeforce as well.

Since this is my first official submission to this “Behind the Shirt” article, I thought I would set the standards on what you can expect from me. I entitled this article “I’m not a Fan-Boy…” for a reason. There are a lot of people out there who claim to be journalists, writers, industry experts, etc. because they are big fans of MMA and the UFC and they are looking for a way to feel important or say that they work in the MMA industry. This isn’t to say that I am NOT a fan of MMA, in fact it is quite the contrary.
