After a weekend like the one I just had, sitting at a desk simply won’t do. I’m bored and I want to be training. There’s nothing quite like fight day. You wake up; try to pretend it’s just another day, but it’s not. There’s the elephant in the room until someone finally breaks the silence and [...]

Two weeks out from Battlefield 13 and i’m sick, tired and beat up, yet I know that two weeks from right now i will be eating a dinner that tastes extra special because I will have spent the week leading up to that moment cutting weight. Obviously, cutting weight is terrible, but its part of the sport [...]

Well, it’s 2012, and I just finished my “vacation”. It seems as though I, like Forrest Gump have a skewed concept of “vacation”. I trained twice a day for the 10 days I had off and was more tired after then I would have been if I worked.

Hey guys, so obviously i’m not going pro yet. I am going to be fighting Ryan Allen on Feb 11th up in Vernon, BC. It will be my 7th fight inside the Battlefield Fight League cage, and my 8th amateur fight. People around here (Vancouver, BC) see that and instantly think it’s time to go pro.

Well I successfully defended my Battlefield Fight League middleweight title. It was pretty quick, 40 seconds into the fight I was tightening up a triangle choke, and 1:10 in Jer Kornelsen tapped. It would appear a pretty successful outing. Unless you consider how many mistakes I was able to make in the first few seconds of the fight.

It’s five weeks out from my rematch with Jer Kornelson. I finally got the chance to watch our first fight. Cognitive dissonance had me believe that the fight was a back and fourth battle, when in reality it was a sloppy sub par grappling match. My sub attempts were not set up and I gassed hard.

Well, Im glad this blog is named “Road to the Pro’s” and not “Road to Second Amateur Belt”. I would like to state that the number one goal of amateur MMA is to ensure that nobody gets hurt. In my fight on Saturday night after a very short exchange on our feet I went for a single leg and took Adam to the mat where he proceeded to land some hammer fists. The referee (Mr. Kevin Dornan) said due to my lack of response to the punches he stopped the fight. I did not respond to the punches because they were not doing any damage to me and I was pre-occupied with trying to advance on my opponents leg.

Sorry it’s late… again! I went from having absolutely nothing to write about, to having no time to write. I am now headlining the September 17th Battlefield show against Adam Santos for the heavyweight title….I weigh 195 pounds. Adam is a big guy at 6’6″ 240lbs and a black belt in Morganti jiu jitsu. Apparently that makes him a fairly tough guy to find a fight for.

It’s been a pretty slow two weeks for me. I’ve been training a fair amount but have been concentrating more on getting some bills paid before I get back to the grind and head into the next training camp.
It looks like I’m going to be fighting again in November and apparently against Jer Kornelson… again. It’s not that I don’t think he’s worthy of a title shot, or that I’m scared to fight him

Well the relaxing time is over and it’s time to get back to work. Two weeks ago I won the amateur Battlefield middleweight title. In the days leading up to the fight I found it weird that I was going to go into a fight and attempt to stand up and box the entire fight. My hands were untested but I was confident.
