Two fights added to UFC 149 in Calgary

|

The UFC will make their first stop to cow town (Calgary) on July 21 for UFC 149. One half of the main event is set with Jose Aldo to defend his featherweight strap. Yesterday via the official UFC Canadian twitter account the organization announced two more fights.

Two more fights confirmed for Calgary #UFC149 – CDN Antonio Carvalho faces American George Roop and Thiago Alves against Yoshihiro Akiyama

Alves has been on a rollercoaster ride over the last couple of years, most recently he lost to Martin Kampmann in the main event of the first UFC on FX show. While Akiyama is no better, in fact he’s been much worse. Losing his last four fights. Look for a stand and bang type match-up with fight of the night written all over it.

After a very strong performance at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale against Josh Grispi, Roop has lost his last two outings. Carvalho was on a two fight winning streak before succumbing a unanimous decision loss to Felipe Arantes in his UFC debut at UFC 142.
