Is a “Dreamcatcher” enough to face down “The Dragon?” That is the question the UFC has created with the announcement that Gegard Mousasi and Lyoto Machida in a February 2014 bout due to emanate from Jaragua del Sol, Brazil.

Lyoto Machida vs Gegard Mousasi announced

The UFC announced the clash earlier today, but have not given word at what weight class the match will take place.

Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi (34-3-2) made his UFC debut under difficult circumstances. When his intended debut opponent, Alexander Gustafsson, received a fight-cancelling cut over his eye, Ilir Latifi stepped up at the very last minute. The short notice change of opponent was not enough to deter the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, as he would go on to earn a decisive unanimous decision. Will he be able to achieve the same success with this considerable step-up in competition in Lyoto Machida?

Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (20-4) is coming off an impressive middleweight debut, starching Top 10 opponent Mark Munoz with a head kick at only 3:10 into the first round of their bout. A former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has long been known as an elusive competitor, and is very hard to hit, much less take down. Will his trademark movement push him forward with a win over Mousasi?

Gegard Mousasi vs. Lyoto Machida has been set for Feb. 8th, 2014, in Jaragua del Sol, Brazil. The official name of the event has yet to be announced, but this fight will likely be the main event. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other events.
