Shawn W. Smith is from Southern Ontario and grew up a die-hard professional wrestling fan. As his teen years approached he wanted something a little more realistic, and along came mixed martial arts.

When he was supposed to be studying for his history degree at Brock University, Shawn took up writing about mixed martial arts as a hobby. As if often the case, the hobby became a sensation and Shawn has been writing ever sense.
